[origin: EP0540496A1] To manufacture three-dimensional shaped parts (F) from a large-pore material, a block (B) of the said material is cut along tangential planes on the surface of the shaped parts to be manufactured by means of cuts (T) which are guided close to one another and are of a specified width. <??>So that the block (B) can be cut rationally and in a way which produces waste which can be easily removed, the block (B) is cut into, before tangential cutting or during tangential cutting, essentially along planes radial to the shaped-part surface up to the shaped-part surface, the cuts (R) being longitudinally approximately parallel to one another and being made in the region of the shaped-part surface at a maximum distance from one another which corresponds to the width of the tangential cuts (T). A horn (2) having a shank part (5) which extends in the direction of oscillation and a cutter (4) which is added to the end of the latter and has a transversely extending cutting part (6) is used for cutting, the shank part (5) and the cutting part (6) of the said horn (2) forming cutting edges (8, 9a; 9b). <IMAGE>
