[origin: EP0540876A2] The cooking hob has an at least partially transparent carrier consisting of glass or glass-ceramic, with heating elements arranged underneath it. Provided on the periphery of the heating element is an optical conductor (which surrounds the heating element) of a lighting device, for visual indication of the heated area and/or for indicating residual heat. The optical conductor is constructed in the form of a glass ring and surrounds the likewise annular wall element of an insulation insert, which is in the form of a pan, of the heating element. <IMAGE>
