[origin: EP0541411A1] The technical sector of the invention is that of devices ensuring the ejection of a plurality of submunitions from the casing of a cargo shell. The ejection device according to the invention comprises a pyrotechnic composition (7) placed in a nose (3) and intended, after initiation, to generate a gas pressure pushing a piston (11) over a short distance so as to displace towards a base (4) a movable assembly consisting of a thrust plate (10) and of the submunitions (8a, 8b, 8c), and to eject the base (4), the piston (11) then being stopped relative to the nose and carrying a duct (22) allowing the gases to pass towards the movable assembly so as to push the latter. This device is characterised in that braking means (13) are arranged between at least part of the movable assembly and the casing (2) of the shell. The invention is used for mine-dispersing cargo shells. <IMAGE>
