[origin: WO9221629A1] A method for producing an optical fibre which has been treated with titanium dioxide to improve its corrosion resistance includes stretching an assembly consisting of an outer sleeve having engaged therein a bar which is partially or entirely made of synthetic silica. When treating said fibre, the outside of the coupling sleeve is coated, prior to assembling the components, with a deposit of vitrified synthetic silica containing titanium dioxide.

Ce procédé de fabrication d'une fibre optique traitée au dioxyde de titane pour améliorer sa résistance à la corrosion consiste à étirer un ensemble constitué d'un tube de manchonnage extérieur dans lequel on a engagé un barreau partiellement ou entièrement en silice synthétique. Pour que cette fibre soit traitée, on recouvre, antérieurement à l'assemblage de ces composants, l'extérieur du tube de manchonnage au moyen d'un dépôt de silice synthétique vitrifiée contenant du dioxyde de titane.
