[origin: EP0541956A1] 2.1 The reels in question are provided, externally at the flanges, with radially extending ribs which are arranged at a relatively small angular distance from one another. The flange discs must be designed such that they are not destroyed by the centrifugal forces, which are very high, in particular at the commencement of a winding operation. The rotary speed at the commencement of the winding operation is, for example, 4,000 revolutions per minute. The drive is carried out by the supporting flange, contacting the flange discs, on a winding machine. The radially extending ribs lead to stress peaks in the region of the face ends associated with the winding core if the reel falls onto the outer edge of a flange disc. Since, however, fine cracks cannot be seen with the naked eye, such a reel is used further, so that it is quite possible that in practice, at the extremely high rotary speeds, parts of flange discs are thrown out. It is therefore the aim of the invention for the impact strength of the reel to be substantially higher. 2.2 In the reel (10) according to the invention, the elevations forming the profiling are designed as projecting lugs (14) which are arranged on at least one circle running concentrically with the winding core (11) with a larger diameter than the winding core (11).
