Abstract (en)
The invention relates to a method for the casting of metals in a continuous casting machine. In order to avoid break-outs during the casting process, the expansion of the mould in the strand withdrawal direction is measured. In the event of a sudden rise in the measured value, the casting process is either interrupted or the casting rate reduced. Measurement errors caused by thermal expansion can be eliminated by taking into account the temperature at the measuring location or the expansion transversely to the strand withdrawal direction. It is, however, also possible to use the gradient of the expansion in the strand withdrawal direction as a criterion for an incipient break-out. <IMAGE>
Abstract (de)
Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Gießen von Metallen in einer Stranggießanlage. Um Durchbrüche beim Gießprozeß zu vermeiden, wird die Dehnung der Kokille in Strangauszugsrichtung gemessen. Bei einem plötzlichen Anstieg des Meßwertes wird der Gießprozeß entweder unterbrochen oder die Gießgeschwindigkeit vermindert. Durch Wärmeausdehnung bedingte Meßfehler können dadurch eliminiert werden, daß die Temperatur an der Meßstelle oder die Dehnung quer zur Strangauszugsrichtung berücksichtigt werden. Es ist allerdings auch möglich, den Gradienten der Dehnung in Strangauszugsrichtung als Kriterium für einen sich anbahnenden Durchbruch heranzuziehen. <IMAGE>
