[origin: EP0542074A2] A flame holder for radiant burner, in particular for gaseous fuels has a dimensionally stable gas-permeable body (10) made of refractory material, through which the fuel/air mixture flows and in the outlet-side surface layer of which it combusts. In order to prevent a blowback of the flame onto the inlet side of the fuel/air mixture, there is arranged in front of the entrance surface of the body (10) a layer of a small-grained refractory bulk material (16) which is flowed through by the fuel/air mixture.
