[origin: WO9202158A1] A knapsack has at least one stiffening element (2) received in pockets (6) provided on the back wall (3) and concavely curved (seen from outside) at least in parts, in the longitudinal and/or transversal direction. The stiffening element (2) concavely deforms the back wall (3) in the longitudinal and/or transversal directions. An elastic support band (4) extends between a lower area of the stiffening element (2) and a supporting net (5) stretched in the upper area of the stiffening element (2), bridging the concavity. This support band (4) can for example extend between a lower marginal area of the stiffening element (2) and the supporting net (5). In order to make it easier to mount and dismount the knapsack, and to ensure a reliable seat of the same, the stiffening element (2) is a flat one-piece element, provided if necessary with openings, which when it is curved is releasably stretched in the longitudinal and transversal directions only by its upper and lower ends between upper and lower pockets (6) in the back wall (3).
