Abstract (en)

[origin: DE4024229C1] The invention concerns a device for blowing off excess coating material, in particular liquid zinc or aluminium, in the coating of metal strips. The device comprises a nozzle supplied with compressed air, the nozzle body (3, 4) being fixed to a main body (1). The two lips (3, 4) of the nozzle, which can be ajusted relative to each other, form a slit (10) running at right angle to the metal strip. In order to optimize the slit width or the air pressure over the whole width of the metal strip, the invention calls for the nozzle to be of the line-aperture type, at least two part-nozzles (2) being used which have separate working-fluid, in particular compressed-air, supplies and which are sealed with respect to each other, the slits in each part-nozzle being juxtaposed to form a continuous slit (10).
