[origin: EP0543356A2] The invention relates to a process for making compositions with improved low-temperature behaviour for use as motor fuels or lubricants, starting from the esters of long-chain fatty acids obtained from natural sources with monohydric C1-C6-alcohols (FAE), a) additives PPD, known per se and used for improving the low-temperature behaviour of mineral oils, being added in quantities from 0.0001 to 0.1 % by weight, relative to the long-chain fatty acid esters FAE, and b) the mixture being cooled to a temperature below the cold filter plugging point (determined according to DIN 51 458) of the long-chain fatty acid esters FAE without additives, and c) the resulting precipitates (FAN) being separated off. s
