Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0544078A1] A device for applying transverse welds and transverse severing cuts or transverse severing seams to an intermittently advanced tubular or semi-tubular web made of a thermoplastic material and for stacking the cut-off sections, comprises a transverse welding and transverse cutting station (2) for cutting sections from the web which are provided with floor welds and, if appropriate, additionally with leading top welds, and a stacking station which is provided with devices for holding or fixing the fed sections. In order to achieve good cooling of the trailing welds of the sections, without there being a danger of the sections sticking together in the region of the floor welds during stacking, a drum (26) having a transverse spindle is mounted between the transverse welding and transverse cutting station (2) and the stacking station (4), the external cylinder of the said drum being formed by at least two rods or wall parts (26', 26'') and the drum being rotatably driven in time with the welding through an angular step which equals the fraction of one rotation which corresponds to the number of rods. A path is available through which the web can be pushed, in time with deposition, between the transverse welding and transverse cutting station (2) and the stacking station (4) to the nip of the drum (26). <IMAGE>
