[origin: EP0544527A1] A warp control apparatus for a loom having a control rod retention device (4, 9, 11, 15) for selective engagement and retention of an end portion of a reciprocating control rod (14), in which said control rod retention device includes a finger (9) provided with a hook portion (91) or an aperture which can be selectively brought into engagement with the end portion of said control rod (14) to retain it and a piezo-electric body (2) having a piezo-electric element (200, 210). One end portion of the piezo-electric body (2) is movably supported on the control rod retention device (4) and the other end portion thereof is movably connected to the finger (9), and an intermediate portion between the one end portion of said piezo-electric body and the other end portion thereof is fixed to a rotatable member (16) rotatably mounted on the control rod retention device (15). This provides a device which is high in response speed, small in size, low in power consumption, prolonged in lifetime and only requires a low applied voltage. <IMAGE>
