[origin: EP0544997A1] In a device for holding a refractory ceramic stopper (1), a stopper rod (3) projects into an installation space (2) for the stopper (1) and is fixed in the latter. In order to achieve thread-free retention, a widened portion (5) of the installation space (2) forms a stop surface (6), and a supporting surface (8) is formed on the stopper rod (3). Expanding segments (9) rest by their top edges (10) against the stop surface (6). Their bottom edges (11) rest against the supporting surface (8). When the stopper rod (3) is inserted into the installation space (2), the expanding segments (9) pivot into the widened portion (5). <IMAGE>
