[origin: EP0546454A1] A device serves for the metered coating of an applicator roller (2), in particular an applicator roller of a printing machine which directly or indirectly inks a printing forme, having a liquid application medium (3), the applicator roller (2) being in contact with a transfer roller (1) arranged in parallel, and the surfaces of the applicator roller (2) and of the transfer roller (1) having an at least approximately corresponding web speed. The surface of the transfer roller (1) is immersed directly into the application medium (3), the thickness of the film from the application medium (3) remaining on the surface of the transfer roller (1) being determined by a doctor roller (4) which is arranged parallel to the transfer roller (1) and rests on the latter and has an engraving and a small outside diameter compared to the transfer roller. <IMAGE>
