A semi-continuous process is described for the decomposition of asbestos. In the process, which permits a very high throughput, asbestos is contacted with an aqueous solution of a fluorine-containing acid or of an acid salt of such an acid as a decomposition agent.

Beschrieben wird ein halbkontinuierliches Verfahren zur Zersetzung von Asbest. Bei dem Verfahren, das einen sehr hohen Durchsatz gestattet, wird Asbest mit einer wäßrigen Lösung einer Fluor enthaltenden Säure oder eines sauren Salzes einer solchen Säure als Zersetzungsmittel kontaktiert.
