[origin: EP0548500A1] A device for cleaning the cylinders of a rotary printing machine has an uncoilable cleaning cloth (4) and an engagement body (5). The cleaning which is otherwise carried out at fixed intervals and for which specifically dimensioned cloth sections can be provided is changed to a measure which proceeds with alternating pressing-on of the engagement body (5) and virtually continuous cloth feed (w). The cloth (4) is gripped directly in the pressing-on zone and pulled. An oscillating mechanism which is preferably of pneumatic design is provided for the alternating pressing-on. <IMAGE>
