[origin: EP0549084A2] A power drive for electrical switching apparatuses (1) having an operating handle (5) has a motor-transmission unit (25) with a crank arm (41) and a crank pin (42) which drives the operating handle (5) of the switching apparatus (1) by means of a carriage (27). That part of a link opening (43') in the carriage (27) to which the switching-off movement is assigned is constructed in an expanded manner with respect to the crank pin (42). Furthermore, an operating surface (50) is arranged on the carriage (27) in such a manner that the crank arm (41) interacts with the operating surface (50) during switching off. In this way, increased power is transmitted to the carriage (27). The power drive described is suitable especially for operating those switching apparatuses (1) which have an increased power requirement for resetting (RESET) their latching mechanism after automatic tripping. <IMAGE>
