[origin: WO9204641A1] A smart tracking system includes a digital processor for selectively processing error signals representing the angular error between a tracked subject and the orientation of the tracking device/camera. In one embodiment, the user selects a set of data values representing the operating parameters of the system in a specific operational mode. The processor uses the selected variables to perform a series of computations which selectively modify the angular error signals in a manner that will produce a video picture which is visually and aesthetically pleasing to human viewers. In a second embodiment, the set of data values characterizing the operational mode of the system automatically are selected by the processor based on the past history of the subject's motion and the current operation mode of the system.

Un système de poursuite intelligent comprend un processeur numérique destiné à traiter sélectivement des signaux d'erreur représentant l'erreur angulaire entre un sujet suivi et l'orientation du dispositif de poursuite/caméra. Dans un mode de réalisation, l'utilisateur choisit un ensemble de valeurs de données représentant les paramètres fonctionnels de système dans un mode opérationel spécifique. Le processeur utilise les variables sélectionnées afin de procéder à une série de calculs codifiant sélectivement les signaux d'erreur angulaire de manière à produire une image vidéo satisfaisant visuellement et esthétiquement des spectateurs. Dans un second mode de réalisation, l'ensemble de valeurs de données caractérisant le mode opérationnel de système sont choisies automatiquement par le processeur sur la base de l'historique des mouvements du sujet et le mode de fonctionnment effectif du système.
