Abstract (en)

[origin: DE4040303A1] The invention concerns independent-wheel running gear for rail vehicles, especially for local railway lines, consisting of a running gear frame (1) maintained in relationship with the vehicle body (3) via linking rods (2), independent wheels (5) horizontally pivotable in bearing cages (7) in the running gear frame (1) about a main axis (4) and air springs (6) suspending the vehicle body (3) with respect to the running gear frame (1). It is the purpose of the invention to provide an independent-wheel running gear for rail vehicles with loose wheels in which the pivot angle needed for the radial adjustment of the independent wheels (5) in curves is measured and transmitted to the wheel and the wheel is correspondingly adjusted, whereby, with the aim of economical, simple construction, the necessary driving and braking assemblies are arranged in such a way that the running gear operates safely. According to the invention, this aim is achieved in that a sensor (12) scanning the rail is fitted on each bearing cage (7) in front of and behind each wheel contact point controlling an adjusting cylinder (13) setting the deflection of the independent wheel (5) in accordance with the measured rail curvature via a regulator.
