The ink storage container comprises a housing (15) with a mounting surface (16) for an ink-printing head (17) as well as an ink collection region adjacent to the mounting surface. The ink collection region has a large surface area, and is covered with a filter element made from plastic fabric. In addition, the housing contains a storage element (38) made of a micro-channelled ink-absorbing and releasing element, which is in immediate contact with the filter element over a large surface area.
