[origin: WO9205313A1] The rail described is intended for use in the construction of permanent way for rail vehicles. The rail has good vibration-absorption characteristics and gives significant reductions in noise levels by virtue of the following design features: When designed as a tramway-type rail (1), the width (B) of the groove (2) is greater than the groove width in a normal tramway-type rail and a shaped-section strip (3) of elastic material is fixed to the outer flank (2a) of the groove (2), the strip being of a thickness (D) such that the distance (A) between the shaped-section strip (3) and the inner flank (2i) of the groove (2) is equal to the groove width in a normal tramway-type rail; and/or a strip of highly wear-resistant material is attached to the side of the rail head along which the flange of a wheel of a rail vehicle travelling along the rail (1) runs and to the side of the groove (2) opposite the exposed surface of the shaped-section strip (2). Strips are embedded in the contact surface of the rail (1), running at an angle and extending over the whole width of the contact surface.

Un amortissement élevé des vibrations et une réduction considérable du bruit sont assurés par des rails qui servent à former des voies de circulation pour des véhicules sur rails. A cet effet, dans le cas d'un rail à ornière (1), la largeur (B) de l'ornière (2) est supérieure à la largeur normale de l'ornière d'un rail à ornière et une bande profilée (3) en un matériau élastique fixée à la surface extérieure (2a) de l'ornière a une épaisseur (D) telle que la distance (A) entre la bande profilée (3) et la surface interne (2i) de l'ornière (2) correspond à la largeur normale de l'ornière d'un rail à ornière, et/ou du côté du champignon du rail, sur lequel roule le boudin de la roue d'un véhicule qui se déplace sur le rail (1), et sur la face extérieure de la bande profilée (3) tournée vers l'ornière (2), est appliquée une bande en un matériau très résistant à l'usure. Des barrettes qui s'étendent obliquement sur toute la largeur de la surface de roulement du rail (1) sont encastrées dans ladite surface.
