Packages composed of two sub-packages are in increasing demand as so-called cigarette cartons, as "half cartons", i.e. sub-packages with a smaller number of packets of cigarettes, are demanded by consumers. The sub-packages are produced from a common, integral blank, which is severed before the package is brought into circulation, so that sub-packages are formed from two partblanks. The said sub-packages are connected to one another by means of separable connecting elements, especially adhesive strips. 2.2. Such packages, which comprise two sub-packages, are mechanically produced in an efficient manner in a folding revolver. An integral blank is introduced into pockets of the folding revolver and is virtually completely folded. The groups of packets of cigarettes are then pushed into the sub-packages inside the pockets via open sides.
