Abstract (en)
A mass spectrometry system comprises a magnetic sector (MS) mass analyser (20) and a time-of-flight (TOF) mass analyser (50) arranged in tandem. The TOF mass analyser (50) comprises an ion mirror having the property that the flight time of an ion through the ion mirror depends on the mass-to-charge ratio of the ion, but is entirely independent of its energy. The mass spectrometry system can be used to analyse the mass spectrum of daughter ions derived from a parent ion of preselected mass. <IMAGE>
