[origin: DE4215288A1] A percussion drill (3) has a three-part hammer sleeve (6). A hardened tool holder (8) is secured by axial connectors (24, 25, 28) to a guide tube (7) of unhardened steel. The guide tube (7) also has a locking ring (9) for securing to the drive pinion (12). The locking ring is secured through three rollers (30) to the guide tube (7) providing good torque transmission. The design has the advantage that the whole of the hammer sleeve (6) no longer needs to be hardened, but only the tool holder (8) and the locking ring (9). The guide tube (7) may be of soft steel. The connectors (24, 25, 28) and (30, 31, 32) ensure power transmission over a large area so that the wear on the soft guide tube caused by prior art connecting system is avoided.
