[origin: WO9304228A1] To form three-dimensional covers from at least two cuts (11, 13) to be sewn together, the first cut (11) is fitted to a first supporting surface of a bearer (13) in such a way that its edge projects beyond the bearer. A second cut (13) is then applied to a second supporting surface of the bearer (14), the edges (11a, 13a) of both cuts standing obliquely away from the cuts and forming an edge strip standing off the bearer (14). A sewing machine is taken along the base line (57) formed by the bend lines of the edges (11a, 13a) to produce a seam joining the cuts (11, 13) at that point.
