[origin: EP0552451A1] A height-adjustable single-column table (1) having a table top (2) is described, in which the tubular parts of the foot (3) which are guided in one another telescopically are displaceable relative to one another with the aid of a blockable lifting device. In this case, the blocking device is released via a switch knob (16a) arranged in the table surface. By means of this design, it is possible in a simple manner to carry out the height adjustment by pressing the switch knob which is accessible from above. In this case, said switch knob can be constructed as a bolt which is displaceable in a bore of the table top such that it is possible from there to operate the blocking device of a commercially available lifting device arranged below the table top. <IMAGE>
