[origin: EP0552614A2] An apparatus for sorting coins has a separating device and a sorting channel which adjoins the latter and above which, in an operating position, the lower strand of a conveyor belt driven by an electric motor rotates for the displacement of the individual coins through the sorting channel, the conveyor belt being guided via deflecting rollers in a supporting bar which, at the end adjacent to the end of the sorting channel, can be pivoted upwards out of the operating position via a pivot bearing, a retention device being provided for fixing the supporting bar in the operating position. So that the reception and transport of coins in the sorting channel take place as reliably as possible, the supporting bar (28) is divided into a supporting-bar main portion (29) mounted in the pivot bearing (27) and a supporting-bar extension (30) which is pivotably mounted at the free end of the supporting-bar main portion (29) and in which one of the deflecting rollers is arranged. <IMAGE>
