[origin: EP0552686A1] An exhaust hood is to be designed in such a manner that it can be moved easily above the cooking range, above which it is to be arranged, and also has a simple movement mechanism. The simple and articulation-free construction of the exhaust hood according to the invention makes possible, on vertical lowering of the vapour collecting screen (5) which is mounted movably in a diagonally designed guide (9), a simultaneous movement in the horizontal plane towards the user and back. A space-saving and aesthetically pleasing integration of the movable system into the upper cabinet (1) can be achieved. A control connected to the blower allows, depending upon the position of the front vapour collecting screen, the ratio of the suction capacity of the front to the rear screen to change. <IMAGE>
