[origin: EP0553447A1] A cooling system for printing plates for cooling the surface (4) of a rotating cylindrical printing plate (6) of a printing machine. A cooling-air fan beam (2) extends along the printing-plate surface (4) and blows cooling air onto the printing-plate surface (4) in order to keep its temperature at a desired value. The blower-air beam (2) comprises at least one heat exchanger (52) and at least one fan (60) as well as at least one air-return duct (20, 22), said elements together forming a cooling-air circulation by means of which the air blown onto the printing-plate surface (4) is fed to the air inlet side of the heat exchanger and, mixed with fresh air if appropriate, is blown by the fan (60) back through the heat exchanger (52) onto the printing-plate surface (4). The blower-air beam (2) constitutes an energy-saving, compact constructional unit for cooling the printing-plate surface (4). <IMAGE>
