[origin: EP0554698A1] A cylinder machine, in particular calender, has a cooling device for the edge region (9, 10) of a flexible cylinder (1). It is fitted on a support (12, 12a) which can be moved parallel to the cylinder axis by means of an actuating motor (13, 13a). A sensor (14, 14a) offset towards the cylinder centre detects the web edge (7). The actuating motor (13, 13a) displaces the support (12, 12a) in dependence on the sensor signals, such that the sensor (14, 14a) remains in the region of the web edge (7). In this way, it is ensured that the edge region (9, 10) is cooled to a sufficient degree, even when the web width (B) is changed or when changing the web. <IMAGE>
