[origin: EP0554803A1] A submerged centrifugal pump, of the multistage type, with a closed rotating ring (14), is used in particular for extracting fluids containing sand, earth and/or small debris from underground wells. Each stage (4) of the pump comprises a chamber, inside which is contained a rotating ring (14) with vanes, consisting of a cover (11), a hollow cylinder-shaped staggering element (12) and a diffuser (13) with fixed vanes. Between ring (14) and lid (11) sealing means (15,16) are interposed, arranged and shaped so as to prevent the infiltration between them of solid suspensions present in the fluid. <IMAGE>
