[origin: EP0554960A1] The invention relates to a ventilation grid for insertion into a window frame which consists of a frame with two horizontal profiles (1, 2) which lie parallel at a mutual spacing and which in each case form a box-shaped space with a wall (5) adjacent to them or forming a component of them. With their edge facing the profile situated opposite, the walls form a gap (9) which passes through over virtually the entire length. The gaps (9) can be closed off with strips (11, 12) which have a joint operating mechanism and which are both displaceable parallel to one another in opposite directions and which are both provided with at least one toothed bar (19, 20), parallel to the plane of the respective strips (11, 12) and to one another. Situated between each set of toothed bars (19, 20) is a toothed wheel (21). The grid is provided with a screen (61) which is impermeable to insects and which is a component of or is mounted in a screen housing (60) which has edges or a surround. The edges or surround have a catching-in or pushing-on connection to at least one upper and/or outer edge of one horizontal profile and to the lower edge or an edge located on the outside of the other horizontal profile.
