Press for compacting containers (28) of contaminated waste, comprising a frame including a base (1) and an upper crosshead (3) connected to the base by means of vertical supports (4), and a compacting assembly comprising a principal cylinder (5) linked to the upper crosshead (3), a principal piston (6), located in the said principal cylinder and determining a principal chamber (11) between the said piston and the upper end plate (10) of the said principal cylinder, the said principal piston being extended by a rammer rod (7), and a skirt (8) intended to surround the said container (28) at the time of the latter's compacting by the rammer, characterised in that the said skirt (8) is extended at its upper end by a tubular piston (9) accommodated in the said principal cylinder (5) between the latter and the said rammer rod (7) and determining an intermediate chamber (13) between itself and the principal piston (6) and an annular chamber (14) between itself and the lower end of the principal cylinder (5), the said principal chamber (11) and the said annular chamber (14) including pipes (12, 17) so that they can be supplied with control fluid, and in that the said intermediate chamber (13) includes a sliding leaktight device permitting its supply with control fluid. <IMAGE>

Presse pour comprimer des fûts (28) de déchets contaminés, comprenant un bâti comportant un socle (1) et un sommier supérieur (3) relié au socle par des supports verticaux (4), et un ensemble de compression comprenant un cylindre principal (5) lié au sommier supérieur (3), un piston principal (6), situé dans ledit cylindre principal et déterminant une chambre principale (11) entre ledit piston et le fond supérieur (10) dudit cylindre principal, ledit piston principal se prolongeant par une tige de fouloir (7), et une jupe (8) destinée à entourer ledit fût (28) au moment de sa compression par le fouloir, caractérisée en ce que ladite jupe (8) se prolonge à son extrémité supérieure par un piston tubulaire (9) logé dans ledit cylindre principal (5) entre celui-ci et ladite tige de fouloir (7) et déterminant une chambre intermédiaire (13) entre lui-même et le piston principal (6) et une chambre annulaire (14) entre lui-même et l'extrémité inférieure du cylindre principal (5), ladite chambre principale (11) et ladite chambre annulaire (14) comportant des canalisations (12,17) pour leur alimentation en fluide de commande et en ce que ladite chambre intermédiaire (13) comporte un dispositif étanche coulissant, permettant son alimentation en fluide de commande. <IMAGE>
