[origin: WO9208335A1] The invention concerns a plasma torch which is mounted on a support structure so that it extends into a container. The burner has a lance fitted with a jet nozzle and an electrode tube, fitted with a main electrode, located inside the lance. Gaseous and liquid media, as well as the electric current, are fed to the electrode through coaxially pipes. The bottom of the main electrode (10) is surrounded by an annular insulating element (21) which forms a ring round the electrode (10). The outer wall (33) of the double-walled lance (30) carried by the support structure being fixed to this insulation.
