Abstract (en)

A motorcycle engine comprises a usual camshaft (1) cooperating with a usual timing chain or toothed belt by way of a usual sprocket wheel and operating on at least one exhaust valve of at least one corresponding cylinder within which a piston moves reciprocatingly. With the camshaft there are associated movable shifter means (11, 61) cooperating with said exhaust valve and arranged to assume at least two working positions, in a first working position assumed during the starting of the engine they opening said valve and in a second position they having no influence on the usual action of the camshaft on the valve, control means (24, 70) being provided operationally connected to said shifter means (11, 61) and associated with a rotating member of the engine, said control means (24, 70) being able to assume on the basis of the rotational speed of the engine two working positions such as to move the shifter means (11, 61) into the aforesaid positions and allow during the starting of the motorcycle the decompression of that cylinder on which said exhaust valve is located. <IMAGE>
