Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0555897A1] The preparation of X-ray materials, especially suitable for non-destructive testing applications, is described. The emulsion layers of said material are comprising a mixture of chemically ripened cubic silver bromoiodide emulsion grains having a diameter of less than 0.30 mu m and chemically ripened cubic silver chloride and/or silver chlorobromide and/or silver chlorobromoiodide emulsion grains having a diameter less than or at most 30% larger in size than said silver bromoiodide grains and being present in an amount of less than 20% by weight referred to the total amount of the coated silver halide crystals. Applying this emulsion mixture into strongly hardened thin coated layers offers the advantage to get a suitable cold blue image tone with a suitable surface glare after development of the exposed material, especially if at least one non-migratory blue colouring agent is added to at least one of the hydrophilic colloid layers coated onto the blue coloured support.
