Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9305199A1] An aluminum alloy sheet for automotive bodies, wherein the alloy contains 2-10 wt.% of magnesium and the sheet comprises a metallic aluminum base, an aluminum phosphate coating formed thereon, an aluminum oxide coating further formed thereon, and further, if necessary, an oily layer formed as the uppermost layer. A process for producing the above sheet which comprises the steps of treating a sheet of an aluminum alloy containing 2-10 wt.% of magnesium with an acid having a pH of 4 or less to remove the magnesium oxide coating from the surface of the sheet, treating the resultant sheet with a phosphate solution to form an aluminum phosphate coating between the metallic base and the aluminum oxide coating, and further, if necessary, forming an oily layer as the uppermost layer.
