[origin: EP0557870A1] In a sleeper (2) for anchoring railway rails (6) in a fixed, ballastless superstructure (1), the sleeper (2) being inserted with its lower region into a sleeper shoe (3) consisting of a bottom plate (4) and side walls (13) made of elastic material, and being mounted with the shoe in corresponding recesses of the superstructure (1), there is provided in the region of the upper edges of the side walls (13) of the sleeper shoe (3) a connection which seals circumferentially the side walls (13) of the sleeper shoe (3) against the side surfaces of the sleeper (2). <IMAGE>
