Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0558407A1] Electrical connector which includes several contacts (6) held in respective housings (5) of an insulating body (4), connection means being provided to electrically connect together the respective sections (7) of the contacts (6) which are electrically insulated from the respective bodies of the contacts, these connection means comprising: contact rings (8) surrounding the contact sections (7) respectively and made of an elastically deformable conducting material, these rings each being wound in a helix and extending over at least a half-turn of winding around the sections, thereby elastically gripping them; two rigid plates (9), at least one of which is made of a conducting material and which are pierced with a multiplicity of holes (10) through which the contacts (6) of the connector slide freely, these plate being located on either side of the contact rings; and clamping means (11, 12) for clamping the two plates, one to the other, and for elastically compressing the contact rings in the longitudinal direction of the contacts. <IMAGE>
