[origin: EP0558441A1] The top nipper jaw consists of a plate (9) with a lower longitudinal edge (9.1) and with an upper longitudinal edge (9.3). Between the two longitudinal edges (9.1, 9.3), the plate (9) contains at least one recess (9.4) which reduces the mass of the plate (9), without appreciably impairing its rigidity. The reduced mass of the plate (9) correspondingly reduces the load on driving parts which, in a combing machine, move to and fro a nipper unit containing the top nipper jaw. <IMAGE>
