[origin: WO9306275A1] A process is disclosed for supplying a lap (10) that can be unwound from a lap roll (3) to a combing unit (16) of a combing machine. The lap roll (3) lies on rotary winding cylinders (4) and at least one of the winding cylinders (4) is linked to a drive. In practical operation, it has been ascertained that as the diameter (D) of the lap roll decreases, the lap feeding speed is reduced. This deviation also affects the combed sliver formed in the combing machine and is generally known as drift. The grist of the combed sliver to be formed by the combing machine is thus no longer ensured. In order to compensate for this drift, it is proposed to increase the speed of rotation of the driven winding cylinders (4) during a lap roll (3) unwinding time interval.
