[origin: EP0558918A2] Using the radio data system (RDS), it is possible in EON receiving mode to switch a broadcast receiver automatically to the traffic announcement on another station during the reception of any FM sound radio station. During this switch, however, strong jumps in volume can occur in the audio reproduction since the transmitters of different station chains are operated with different modulation percentages determined by their station. Using the broadcast receiver according to the invention, the volume can be adapted when changing to a traffic radio programme and this is repeated automatically with each subsequent station change. <IMAGE>
