[origin: EP0558924A1] A linear drive is proposed which has a housing (1) with a longitudinal slot (13). A drive part (4) longitudinally movable in the housing (1) is connected to a guide part (15) via a dog (14) passing through the longitudinal slot (13). The guide part (15) is movably guided on a longitudinal guide (16) arranged outside the housing (1). Provided as longitudinal guide (16) is a rod guide (25) which has at least one guide rod (26) arranged next to the housing (1) at a radial distance from the latter. The guide rod (26) is exposed all round along its guide section (34) and is enclosed there by the guide part (15). A precise guide for the motion unit (18) is thus available which is unaffected by any attempts of the housing (1) to expand and is inexpensive to produce. <IMAGE>
