[origin: EP0559020A1] The invention relates to an eccentric disc sander with a housing (3) in which a motor (9) moves a sanding disc (25) via its driven shaft (13), which is coupled, fixed in terms of rotation, to an eccentric carrier (15) which carries an eccentric pin (19) which, in particular in a rolling-contact bearing (23), is rotatable about its axis (21) with a defined bearing friction and with a defined eccentricity "e" with respect to the driven shaft (13) and which is coupled, fixed in terms of rotation, to the sanding disc (25), with the result that the latter revolves, with the eccentricity "e", about the axis (11) of the driven shaft (13) and, due to the bearing friction, rotates simultaneously about the axis (21) of the eccentric pin (19), braking means (31, 33) limiting the speed of the sanding disc (25) when the latter is not bearing on a workpiece or the like. In the eccentric disc sander, the sanding disc (25) is prevented from speeding up to the speed of the driven shaft by at least one braking means (31, 33) being designed in an annular form and being used, in particular with a free end, to generate friction between the sanding disc (25) and the housing (3). <IMAGE>
