[origin: EP0559608A2] In order to monitor the corona discharge current in powder coating installations, the current flowing (I) from the workpiece (3) is measured. Variations of the current intensity (I) are proportional to the variation of the corona discharge current at the electrode (9) in the corona zone (5). The variations can be caused by fouling of the electrode (9), a drop in the voltage at the electrode (9) or in the contact earthing of the workpiece (3). <IMAGE>
