[origin: EP0559942A1] The present invention relates to a self-optimising control for an electrostatic filter, which control involves the automatic analysis, on the basis of empirical values, of any events which occur, e.g. filter flashovers, and on the basis of the analysis results determining new, optimised control parameters (tDS, tE, I<*>), e.g. a flashover delay time (tDS), a deionisation time (tE) or a filter current (I<*>) for the electrostatic filter and are set for the electrostatic filter. <IMAGE>
