Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0559970A2] This novel construction system partly using prefabricated units can be summed up as follows: in order to construct our bearing wall, it is necessary to prefabricate special artificial blocks of various types and assemble them in accordance with our method, then place them one on top of the other, these then receiving vertical and horizontal reinforcements, including concrete, in holes and recesses reserved for these, as far as the level of the slab in which the vertical reinforcement meets the reinforcement of the bearing elements of the floor, forming a sort of multiple frame extending horizontally (in series and in parallel) and vertically (over several levels). The chain joints ensure efficient connection between the floors and the bearing walls. In order to produce the floor, it is necessary to have three essential elements, of which two are prefabricated (the hollow floor blocks and the horizontal elements of the frames) and of which the third is formed on-site (the compression plate). Once they have been produced, the horizontal elements of the frames will be bearing elements, while the hollow floor blocks provide for the filling, and finally the compression plate which provides for the connection. This construction system can thus be produced in record time and will require less labour and means than for the other systems. It is hoped that it will contribute to improving the quality of urban and rural construction, especially in Third World countries, where economic problems constitute a major preoccupation.
