Abstract (en)

For opening the watch case (1) by extracting the glass (2), this case is fixed in an enclosure (3), after having removed its crown and its stem. A sucker (4) is then applied onto the glass, this sucker being capable of being operated from outside the enclosure using a handle (40). By using a pump controlled by a lever (37), the enclosure is subjected to a defined overpressure, after which a pulling force (A) is exerted on the sucker until the glass is extracted. Since the overpressure is the same outside and inside the case, no displacement of air, and therefore no damage to the mechanism of the watch, is produced when the glass is separated from the case. <IMAGE>

Abstract (fr)

Pour ouvrir la boîte de montre (1) par extraction de la glace (2), on fixe cette boîte dans une enceinte (3) après lui avoir enlevé sa tige et sa couronne. On applique ensuite une ventouse (4) sur la glace, cette ventouse étant manoeuvrable de l'extérieur de l'enceinte au moyen d'une poignée (40). Au moyen d'une pompe commandée par un levier (37) on soumet l'enceinte à une surpression déterminée après quoi on exerce une force de traction (A) sur la ventouse jusqu'à extraction de la glace. La surpression étant la même à l'extérieur et à l'intérieur de la boîte, il ne se produit aucun déplacement d'air et donc aucun dégât au mécanisme de la montre quand la glace se sépare de la boîte. <IMAGE>
