Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0561059A1] The invention relates to a chair, in particular a workchair or office chair, having a seat support (20) with a seat (30), said seat support being pivotable in the front region about a horizontal seat support pivot axle (15) and being variable in inclination, and having a backrest support (32) with a backrest (33), said backrest support being variable in inclination inevitably overproportionally as a function of the change in inclination of the seat support, in which, with an increase in inclination of the seat support (20), the latter is limitedly adjustable in the direction towards the backrest (33) and is limitedly lowerable with its front region, the seat support pivot axle (15) being guided adjustably in guides (22) sloping down towards the rear, in which the backrest support (32) is guided below the seat (30) and is mounted rotatably on the seat support (20), in which the backrest support is extended beyond said seat support rotary bearing in the direction towards the seat support pivot axle and is supported by its end in an articulated manner on the bearing block, and in which the bearing block (10) is provided with a standing column receiver (11) for the standing column of the chair frame. The synchronous change in inclination required between the seat support (20) and the backrest support (32), in conjunction with an additional lowering of the backrest (33) towards the seat (30), a restricted adjustment of the seat in the direction towards the backrest and a limited lowering of the front seat region, are implemented by a novel adjusting mechanism of small constructional height below the seat. <IMAGE>
