The invention relates to an apparatus for the coating of running paper or cardboard webs, having an application chamber (9) which is pressurised to a gauge pressure of at least 0.01 bar relative to the ambient pressure and is formed on a roll (W) and which is bounded by a blade element (3) at its outlet side end and by a barrier wall (6) at its inlet side end in the direction of running - in each case relative to the roll shell or the web. The invention is characterised in that the barrier wall is formed as a foil-type or strip-shaped barrier element (6), which is resilient in at least one zone, or as a resiliently held plate or strip, whose chord is arranged between the free end edge thereof and the clamping or support line thereof - at the support element against the internal pressure in the chamber - or, in the case of a straight extent thereof at the time, forming a narrow variable gap, which can also tend towards zero or be zero, towards the shell surface of the roll or towards the web, extending at an angle of between 70 DEG and 105 DEG relative to the latter. <IMAGE>

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Auftragswerk zur Beschichtung von laufenden Bahnen aus Papier oder Karton mit einer unter mindestens 0,01 bar Überdruck gegen den Umgebungsdruck stehenden Auftragskammer (9), die an einer Walze (W) gebildet ist und die durch ein Rakelelement (3) an ihrem - jeweils in bezug auf den Walzenmantel bzw. die Bahn - auslaufseitigen Ende und eine Sperrwand (6) an ihrem einlaufseitigen Ende in Laufrichtung begrenzt ist. Die Erfindung ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Sperrwand als ein folienartiges oder bandförmiges, zumindest in einem Bereich federndes Sperrelement (6) oder als eine federnd gehaltene Platte oder Leiste ausgebildet ist, dessen oder deren Sehne zwischen seinen bzw. ihrer freien Endkante und seiner oder ihrer Einspann- bzw. Unterstützungslinie - am Unterstützungselement gegen den Kammerinnendruck - bzw. das bzw. die bei seinem bzw. ihrem gerade ausgebildeten Verlauf einen engen, veränderlichen Spalt, der auch gegen Null gehen oder Null betragen kann, zur Mantelfläche der Walze bzw. Bahn bildend in einem Winkel zwischen 70° und 105° zu dieser verlaufend angeordnet ist. <IMAGE>
